Yes, “in one ear and out the other” is a common saying.

The last time you felt as though you’d heard enough was probably a long time ago.

Does anyone inform you that they’ve had enough of your rambling?
It’s also worth noting that no one was paying attention.

To what extent is there a distinction between the terms “hearing” and “listening”?

Yes. Involuntary and effortless hearing, such as hearing the doorbell or the rain pounding on the glass, is commonplace. As you listen, you begin to absorb the noise.

As a #listening skill, #attention is required (and patience). It’s a dedication to mutual understanding.

It doesn’t matter.

Yes. How do we #learn?

It all comes down to how we #connect.

- It’s a method by which we discover and, in many cases, resolve issues.

The following are my top three tips for improving your listening skills.

Keep your attention on the task at hand, be patient, and don’t slam on the breaks.

The second step is to ask questions that will assist you better understand what the speaker is saying. Be curious, but don’t get too personal.

In order to make sure you understand what the other person is saying, repeat what they said back to you.

When it comes down to it, you can only practise how you listen, but you can’t practise what you’re hearing.
