THE STORY OF THE PROPHET’S FRIENDS SEE THE PICTURES OF THE APOSTLES

The story begins when a companion of the Prophet saw named Hisham bin al-As r.a. and another Companion remained in the palace of Hercules for three days. One night, a messenger from Hercules called them into the room.

While in the room, he took out a large box that had many doors and was lined with gold. One of the boxes was unlocked and a red picture wrapped in black silk was removed.

It is a picture of a strong and large man, with a long neck, no beard and considered the best of God’s creation.

“Do you know who this is?” about Hercules. “No.”
“This is a picture of Prophet Adam (a.s.) and the person with the most hair.”

Then, he opened another box and took out a picture wrapped in black silk cloth with a white picture. It is a picture of a man with curly hair, both red eyes, strong body and fine beard. He asked, “Do you know who this is?”
“No.”
“This is a picture of the Prophet Noah (a.s.).”

Next, he took out another picture in which there was a very white man’s face, both beautiful eyes, wide forehead, long cheeks, white beard and as if smiling. He asked again, “Do you know who this is?”
“No.”
“This is Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.).”

Next, he opened another white picture. He asked, “Do you know who this is?”

“Yes. We know. This is Muhammad Rasulullah SAW. ” Inadvertently the two Companions shed tears. Only Allah Almighty knows the feelings of the two Companions.

Hercules said, “Are you sure this is a picture?”
“Yes.”
In addition to the picture, there is a picture of a man who is behind the Prophet SAW.
“Do you know who is behind it?” about Hercules.

“Yes, we know. This is his Companion and the next caliph (Sayyidina Abu Bakr r.a.). ”

Hercules was silent for a moment before saying, “Remember! He is actually at the end of the box but I accidentally opened it earlier so you can see it. ”

Next, the black silk cloth opened again. So, a blackish picture was released. Inside was the face of a man with curly hair, eyes slightly inward, sharp eyesight, sour face, neatly arranged teeth and his lips protruding out like people were angry.

“This is the Prophet Moses (a.s.),” explained Hercules. In addition to the picture of Prophet Musa a.s, there is a picture that looks like his face but his hair is oily, his forehead is wide and both eyes have black lines on his nose. “This is the Prophet Aaron (a.s.).”

The two Companions were shown another picture wrapped in white silk. Inside there is a picture of a man who is black, his hair is not curly, medium height and like an angry person. Hercules asked, “Do you know who this is?”
“No.”
“This is the Prophet Lot (a.s.).”

Then, he opened another white silk cloth in which there was a reddish white man, with a pointed nose, thin beard and handsome face. He asked, “Do you know who this is?”

“No.”
“This is the Prophet Isaac (a.s.).”
Another white silk cloth was opened. There is a picture of a face that is similar to the Prophet Ishaq a.s. Only, on his lips was a mole. He asked a similar question and the Companions answered the same answer.

“This is the Prophet Ya’qub (a.s.),” he explained.
Then, he opened another box and took out the black silk cloth. Inside was a picture of a white man, handsome face, pointed nose, strong body and his face was shining. He asked, “Do you know who this is?”
“No.”

“This is the Prophet Ishmael (a.s.), the grandfather of your Prophet.”
Next, he opened another box and removed the white silk cloth. In it there is a picture like the face of Prophet Adam a.s, his face is like the sun. He asked, “Do you know who this is?”
“No.”
“This is Prophet Yusuf (a.s.).”

The other white silk cloth was opened and inside there was a picture of a man with a reddish face, thick both calves, weak eyes, medium-bodied and carrying a sword.
“Do you know who this is?”
“No.”
“This is the Prophet Daud (a.s.).”

Then, in another picture is seen a man with a big waist, the length of both legs and riding a horse. “Do you know who this is?”
“No.”
“This is the Prophet Solomon (a.s.).”
Next he showed a picture of a man with a very black beard, a lot of hair, beautiful both eyes and a handsome face. “Do you know who this is?”
“No.”
“This is Isa bin Maryam (a.s.).”

“Where did you get these pictures from? We believe this exists is a picture of the Prophets and we are sure that the Prophet SAW looks like that. Friends asked.

Hercules explains that, indeed the Prophet Adam a.s. asked Allah SWT to show the appearance of the Prophets from his grandchildren and Allah sent down their pictures. Prophet Adam a.s. kept it on the Western horizon before Iskandar Zulkarnain a.s. removed it and handed it over to the Prophet Danial a.s. Then it was passed on to the rulers.

After the meeting, the two friends returned. They met Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq r.a. and told what they had seen and what the king had said. Then, Abu Bakr r.a. cried and said, “The Prophet SAW has told us that Christians and Jews have discovered the attributes of the Prophet SAW in themselves (but they do not want to believe).”

This story is recorded in the narration of Al-Hafiz Imam Al-Baihaqi in the book Dala’ilun Nubuwwah and Imam Hakim in al-Mustadrak.
