There are four things you should and shouldn’t do when it comes to the digital transformation in 2022.

Digital transformation is never easy, but it is inevitable as we move closer to a post-COVID workforce. By setting up a plan and investing in data and analytics to help you make decisions as you go, it is possible to transform your business with less downtime.

Make sure to follow these dos and don’ts when you’re modernizing your business:

Do: Pay attention to the security of things.

The move to working from home can leave businesses open to cyberattacks. Cybercriminals could get into an organization if it didn’t have the right hardware and software for its employees to fight them off. Now, IT teams may not be able to keep an eye on what employees are downloading or what links they click on. Going into 2022, it should be a top priority to get back to a high level of safety.

Most of your employees had their remote work technology (such as wireless printers, iPads, routers, and so on) checked out by IT at the height of the virus.

For big businesses, it is important to step up your security plans as part of your digital transformation. Think about how you will make sure that your remote teams have the right equipment, and think about re-training current employees on new IT rules that are better suited to the way we work now.

Don’t start projects without relying on the data.

You may think that you know exactly what digital transformation projects your company should undertake, but even the most in-tuned executive suites can forget about important parts of the puzzle. When you use data to help you plan your transformation, your resources go further and you are less likely to cause problems with the workflow.

As few as four KPIs can help you figure out how well your digital transformation projects are going. When choosing which KPIs to keep track of, think about these questions:

  • What is the end goal?
  • What is the point at which your company is in balance?
  • Today, where are you?
  • Is each project worth the cost or not?

Do: Putting the hybrid work method first is the best thing to do.

In fact, there’s a lot of proof that hybrid work is going to last. While a flexible work model can have many benefits for your team, planning an infrastructure that can last for a long time takes a lot of thought. In the first few months of 2022, it will be very important to have a strong hybrid work structure in place.

There are a lot of things to think about when you’re designing your hybrid structure. Is it possible for your teams to work together across time zones as you grow? If you want your employees to come into the office, how often will you ask them to come?

Resist the temptation to keep working the same way you have been during the pandemic without looking at your hybrid structure. A lot can be done to improve the procedures that were put in place when the pandemic started. This is a good time to look at them.

Do not: Take the customer experience for granted.

As a business, your customers and clients play a big role in how well your company does. Often, customer experience is the most visible part of your business strategy. As you make changes to processes and improve operational efficiency, be careful not to forget places where the customer experience could be better.

Often, digital transformation and customer service are inseparable. It is easier for your customers to get around when your data and systems are more integrated and connected. The more robust and organized your database is, the more quickly your customer service teams can help customers, which means shorter wait times and more satisfied customers, as well as shorter wait times.

To make the customer experience better, you must first be very familiar with each part of the customer journey, and then you can make changes. The more you know about each stage of the customer lifecycle, the better you can find problems and make changes. If at least half of your digital transformation resources are used to improve the customer experience, your whole company stands to benefit.
